Thing 4

I just finished reading, "A Day in the Life of Web 2.0" and it was very interesting. The thought that kept occuring to me though was where do these people find the time to do all of this. At this point, I don't even know what a "wiki" is. Is it like Wikipedia? Maybe I'll find out by taking this on-line course.

I know I'm rambling but that's what I feel like doing today :)

  1. As I'm reading your blog, I see we have a lot in common. I have never had a blog before either. I also had no computers in school. I agree we need more professional development so we can get comfortable with technology. I actually enjoy using technology in my class and am learning more each day. I am open to new methods of teaching.
I do have a wiki as of this year. I am able to post monthly calendars, daily assignments, post what we are studying in each chapter, post pictures and links. We just discovered how to add students to our wiki's so they can add comments. How exciting!

  3. Like both of you, I am also just learning more about blogging. It really seems like it could be a great way to get our students to use technology to collaborate and learn from each other. I am hoping to learn from all of our colleagues through the blogs we are posting here.

I have also started a wiki this year. It is basically a website that can be interactive or just used to give information. Students can collaborate on projects or lessons. Projects can be posted and shared. Parents can visit the wiki to check on information or assignments given or even to view classroom photos. It is a lot of work, but once set up, can be used year to year! You can check mine out if you want...just remember, I only started it this year, and still have a lot of things I want to add. http://mrstillmanwiki.wikispaces.com/

  4. My mother is one of "those" people who find the time to do all of this stuff. lol I envy her because just like you I do not have the time to sit and explore. Thankfully this class has allowed me do more then I would have ever on my own.

  5. Wikis are part of the next "Things" class. And yes, Wikipedia is the best example of a wiki.
